Prime Minister, We Need Moral Leadership

To build social cohesion Australia needs moral leadership not just more laws or commissions or investigations for politicians to hide behind. 

There is a place for the Royal Commission for sure.

But events in the mosque in Sydney last week tell us everything we need to know. 

Our Prime Minister was heckled by aggressive Muslim men yelling at him that he was a genocide supporter. 

What Australia needs and what the Jewish community needs is for our Prime Minister, our Home Affairs Minister, and our Foreign Minister to stand up and loudly and regularly declare that Gaza is no genocide. 

The label of genocide and the constant refrain that Israel is committing genocide in the face of the absence of any evidence of this, is fueling the division in our country and the attacks on our Jewish community. 

It makes absolute sense: if there really was a genocide occurring, then there would be moral justification for exerting maximum pressure in order to have it stopped. However any fair-minded person, who spends a moment looking at the data and the definition of genocide, can see there is no genocide happening in Gaza (or the West Bank/Judea and Samaria). 

I found myself yelling at my laptop screen as I watched the Prime Minister sit there silently while being heckled. I was yelling, "Stand up, speak up, Prime Minister, speak the truth, have some courage. Don't let yourself get shouted down because when you get shouted down, Jews get killed."

The label of genocide is a highly effective vicious lie to demonise and de-legitimise Israel as part of the Muslim brotherhood and the Iranian regime’s agenda to destroy the nation state of Israel. We don't need legislation and laws to shut it down. We simply need moral leadership and courage from our politicians.
